Life & Works

Describing what I do is probably one of the hardest questions I get asked. Depending on the day of the week you ask me, I could be working on any of the following projects. Nowadays, I tend to focus most of my time on work that I am passionate about. It’s very true that the whole work/life balance thing is a myth when you do what you love and love what you do. That’s how I’ve been doing it anyway.

I work with a talented team of doctors and developers at Future Health. Our team consults, creates and supports innovative IT and social media-powered solutions for the health care industry.

  • HealthEngine – Australia’s most comprehensive health services directory
  • Life In The Fast Lane – The largest medical education blog in the southern hemisphere!

I am also currently studying a double degree in Chinese medicine and human biology at RMIT University in Melbourne. RMIT Chinese Medicine is a World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Centre for Traditional Medicine. Its Chinese medicine research projects are supported by organisations such as the NHMRC and Australian Research Council.

  • Clinical Nature is an educational blog I write and edit about sustainable, integrative and evidence-based traditional Chinese medicine. Its aim is to inform innovation in clinical practice by integrating knowledge from interdisciplinary fields such as traditional and complementary medicines, evolutionary medicine, anthropology, environmental and public health. I encourage you to learn more about taking care of your own health.
  • Buzka is a social bookmarking start-up I co-founded in 2006 and served as CTO
  • VIE&VOY is an independent online travel magazine I founded in 2009

Some of my personal and professional interests include:

  • Preventative health, integrative medicine and traditional Chinese medicine
  • Sustainable food, diet and health, atherosclerosis research and prevention
  • Design, creative problem solving and sustainability
  • Entrepreneurship, globalisation and microfinance

As a well-travelled Australian citizen, the health and welfare of Australian Aborigines and asylum seekers are issues I care about close to home. I also enjoy lending to the world’s working poor at Kiva.org.

I am available for consultation in regards to any of the above! Contact me personally by email: me@jinnan.com
